MEET CHARLEY

My name is Charley Anderson and I am a CAPPA trained Birth and Postpartum Doula. I am currently working on my certification as a Postpartum and Birth Doula, as well as, a Newborn Care Specialist.

Experience

Even though I am new in the world of doula, I have a lot of experience and training already. All my life I have always been drawn to babies and kids. I was the youngest of three girls and all I wanted when I was younger was for my parents to have another kid. That never happened so I started babysitting when I was 12 years old. I have been babysitting ever since. I have experience with children as young as 3 weeks to 12 years old. I have been a full time nanny for the past 4 years and mainly took care of babies. I have experience with twins and preemies. I care about each one of the babies/kids I have nannied and have built a special bond with each of them.

My Journey

I decided I wanted  to become a doula when I was in Nursing School. I decided to quit nursing school and pursue becoming a doula for multiple reasons. The biggest reason being that I wanted to be able to be a woman's support person and be able to give them my full attention. As a nurse there are so many other factors like charting being the biggest one. I also want to be able to build a relationship with each one of my clients and be a support person through pregnancy, birth and postpartum. My long term goal is to be able to help women not only just in my community but women all over the United States who have limited access to this kind of support.

Values and Goals

I believe every woman has the right to a supportive pregnancy, birth and postpartum period. I strive to be able to give the support my clients wish to have. I care for each one of my clients and go above and beyond to meet their needs. My long term goal is to be able to help women not only just in my community but support and educate women all over the United States who have limited access to doula support.

Skills

I have acquired a wide variety of skills with all of my experience. Some of these skills are responsibility, being on time, communication, leadership, independence by being able to find tasks to do, and active listener. Another skill of mine is cleaning and organization. I know that having a clean and organized space helps reduce stress in a time stress is high. Having a newborn on your hands also makes it difficult to make cleaning, let alone organization, a priority. That's why I am offering organization services as an add on for families who have a newborn and/or young kids.
